I’ve had a great week of fun filming a series for the web on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro. The traveling troupe followed me as I visited the flower mart, local orchid farm, some shots on the back patio and even to my home to see how my vegetable garden grows (Very well, thanks to Miracle-Gro, lol). The series is focused on my travails as a local florist and includes a series on plantings and teaching others how to master the tools of the trade. Stay tuned for the results which I expect to see in the next month.
We had the honor of providing centerpieces for the Davis Cup’s luncheon this past week. Great to see such a wonderful event held here in the Don Room at the El Cortez and from all accounts, Petco Park rocked it. Here are a couple shots of our work.
It was a treat to do a class for this wonderful collection of ladies who had no experience making their own arrangements. After a lunch next door at La Pizzeria Arrivederci they stepped onto our outdoor patio to tackle the class. The sun was out and the laughter plenty. We LOVE doing classes for small groups so think of us next time you want to hang out and laugh with friends.

I don’t know about anyone else but for me, this year seems like a sprint from Thanksgiving to Christmas. With Christmas eve less than a week away, the frantic elves at Green have been busy helping customers deck the halls and all that. I’ll be making two more trips to the flower market before the big day and I thought it was worth a reminder to order your holiday arrangements early so we can get the best selection in advance of the looming deadline. Like everything we do at Green, we can make a custom arrangement to fit your home and style. Here are a few we did last year that might inspire your creating thinking. Meanwhile, take a deep breath and shoot for the finish line!
Meet Peanut! (or officially, Cacahuete which is spanish for peanut) Visitors to our store this week have met the newest member of our team, all 9 lbs of her. She arrived in the USA on Sunday after a flight from Puerto Vallarta and a short drive from Sayulita where she was born. Peanut lost her mother and was living in an animal shelter with her five other siblings before we met. I am happy to say she is adjusting very well to life in San Diego. So come say hi to our latest addition and do some holiday shopping.
We are thankful to have Westin Gaslamp as a corporate client and once again we were charged with trimming the beautiful lobby and ballroom with holiday decor. We (as in Carla, Marcelo, Shane and Dove) pulled together our look using holiday trimmed terrariums, fresh succulent wreaths, glass ornaments with succulents, and fresh topiaries to give the public spaces a taste of the season. You can see more images of our work in the Corporate portfolio.
Most people have never experienced the frantic flower market where we shop several times a week to make sure we deliver the freshest seasonal flowers. So here is a few snapshots to showcase our regular experience. The first image is a snapshot of the “shopping carts” I use to pull product. The second is a snapshot of the vast array of flowers I have to choose the best and freshest for the shop. A taste of the flower market as we experience it weekly.

And to top it off, Brad and I were captured having some fun at the grand opening event for Kris Lajeskie’s new interior design showroom. We were thrilled to be a part of the celebration and wish Kris much success.
Thanks for visiting our blog. We are excited to share more with you in the weeks and months ahead.
