L&M Wedding: gardens and gold

By | Wedding | No Comments

We had a great time designing for this past weekend’s wedding. Held at the stunning Marriott Coronado, we used hydrangeas, dahlias and garden roses in all shades of pinks.  Keeping with the couple’s gold accent color, we used elegant vases and containers to tie it all together.

We are thrilled to be featured on the amazing lifestyle blog Style Me Pretty!

Dominique contacted us to create simple, modern arrangements for her husband’s 30th birthday party. Inspired by the aesthetic of the couple’s home, we designed clean succulent arrangements featuring green and white textural florals in clear glass containers.

Art Alive 2014- Gardens of Alhambra: Heaven on Earth

Art Alive 2014 Preview Party

Art Alive 2014 Preview Party

The shop has been hard at work putting together our Rotunda design, Gardens of Alhambra: Heaven on Earth, for this year’s Art Alive! While we’ve created floral interpretations for the San Diego Museum of Art’s signature event for over 20 years, and designed the Rotunda space twice, this year is going to be absolutely over-the-top.

Inspired by the beautiful gardens of Alhambra and the Museum’s own Spanish Baroque façade and interior, this year’s design will transport visitors using both sight and sound. We’re transforming the Museum into the famous Spanish garden using arched hedges, grassy areas, beautiful fountains and benches. And, of course, what we do best- flowers! Juniper and citrus trees, roses, jasmine, bougainvillea and hanging vines will flow throughout the space. We hope to see you there!

I’ve had a great week of fun filming a series for the web on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro.  The traveling troupe followed me as I visited the flower mart, local orchid farm, some shots on the back patio and even to my home to see how my vegetable garden grows (Very well, thanks to Miracle-Gro, lol).  The series is focused on my travails as a local florist and includes a series on plantings and teaching others how to master the tools of the trade.  Stay tuned for the results which I expect to see in the next month.

A Great Class on Spring Flowers!

By | Uncategorized

It was a treat to do a class for this wonderful collection of ladies who had no experience making their own arrangements.  After a lunch next door at  La Pizzeria Arrivederci they stepped onto our outdoor patio to tackle the class.  The sun was out and the laughter plenty.  We LOVE doing classes for small groups so think of us next time you want to hang out and laugh with friends.
