The Silver Sword Philodendron (Philodendron hastatum) is challenging to find and sought after by collectors and plant fans. The "silver sword" was nicknamed due to the silver layer or metallic shine on the mature leaves giving it an otherworldly look. New growth leaves are glossy and green and grow into a sharp point, mirroring the shape of a sword.
The Silver Sword is a climbing vine with a thick stem, so it is ideal for hanging pots. Relatively easy to care for, it prefers indirect light and moist soil that drains well. We recommend a container with drainage and a saucer to collect excess water like the Gemstone cylinder from Momma Pots or the colorful collection from Chive.
