Pilea Peperomioides
The Pilea Peperomioides, also called the Chinese Money Plant because it originated in China, is the toast of Instagram as the most photographed houseplant on social media. The pilea can be a bit more temperamental and is sensitive to overwatering. A clear sign you are overwatering is the leaves will droop. We have a post on our blog that provides details on how to care for your Pilea.
Pilea thrives in bright, indirect sunlight but will also do well in shaded areas. The amount of sun the Pilea receives determines how dark the leaves will become.
Sold in the grower's original container, we recommend purchasing a new pot with drainage, like the Gemstone cylinder from Momma Pots or one from the Chive Collection. These pots have drain holes and matching saucers, allowing the water to flow away from the roots and preventing root rot. We also offer a selection of Pileas planted in novelty and contemporary ceramic containers, or we can help you select a container and pot it for you.
